- Seal the outlet hole in the bottom of the cartridge with
the seal dot or tape. You could use the orange cover that came with the cartridge and hold them together with a rubber band.

- Use the drill to make a hole through the round white circle as indicated. This is the filling hole.
- Fill the syringe with the correct color ink and insert the
needle into the filling hole.
- Slowly inject the correct color ink into the chamber until it
is almost full.
- Seal the fill hole with the silicone plug or one of the large
plugs. Ensure the seal is airtight or all the ink will leak out.
- Remove the seal dot or tape from the outlet hole. (If the cartridge leaks, lay it on its side until the leak stops.)
- Install the cartridge and run several print cleaning cycles
per the printer instructions.
Note: On the CLI‐226 and PGI‐225 series cartridges, there is an electronic
counter embedded in a small computer chip/board. This
counter starts at a high number and decreases for every character
printed. Eventually, the counter reaches zero. At this
point, an error message is generated by the printer. If you click "OK" to the error message, the printer will continue to print.
If you have trouble getting your printer to print because it
thinks the cartridges are empty. Look on your printer for an
orange blinking light. This is your reset button, usually the paper
feed button also. Hold this button in for 5 seconds.
